What Makes KAA Unique?

Our teachers use Direct Instruction, a research-based teaching method that emphasizes subject mastery and ensures that no child "falls between the cracks." For more information on Direct Instruction you can email Mr. Mike Vreeland or visit the curriculum portion of our website. See the link to the left of this page.

Students are placed in small instructional groups based on their demonstrated competency in each subject area. Placement tests are administered at the beginning of the school year and students are re-grouped throughout the year as needed. For more information on Placement tests you can email Mr. Mike Vreeland or visit the curriculum portion of our website. See the link to the left of this page.

We also use a school-wide behavior management program that consistently encourages students to act in a responsible manner in all school settings. This ensures that learning can occur in an orderly environment, and students can feel safe at Kalamazoo Advantage Academy.
For more information on our school-wide behavior management plan, you can email Ms. Nancy Lindahl.
